During the first quarter of 2016, the PANDA system was adapted to the Burkinabe context. A summer course was then organised to train the staff of two dispensaries of the Koupela region in Burkina, whilst the hospital’s medical staff acted as main point of reference.​
A feasibility study was launched in October 2016, conducting antenatal care visits on a group of 300 women in the region.
The pilot proved successful with high satisfaction rates recorded for both the patients and health providers. ​
In August 2018, the project received additional funding to include the subsequent visits and to plan the transfer of the mhealth platform at the local level in order to enable the Health Ministry and its IT Department to take ownership of the PANDA system and implement appropriate changes and modifications. This will ensure a greater degree of autonomy for the country. ​

The PANDA project in Burkina Faso is funded by the NGO Enfants du Monde, promoted by the Ministry of Health of Burkina Faso and conducted by the Research Institute for Health Science with the supervision of the University Hospital of Geneva.
